ABSTRACT
Type specimens (except paleontological types) deposited in the Royal British Columbia Museum (formerly the British Columbia Provincial Museum), are listed. These include 32 plants, 77 insects, 4 millipedes, 1 sponge, 33 hydrozoans, 4 anthozoans, 1 branchiobdellid, 11 polychaetes, 21 crustaceans, 23 molluscs, 1 echinoderm, 11 fish, 1 amphibian, 3 birds, and 24 mammals. Specimens labelled as type specimens for which no citation could be found are not listed.

INTRODUCTION
Since publication of a list of type specimens in the British Columbia Provincial Museum, (now the Royal British Columbia Museum), (Peden and Green 1981), numerous types have been deposited at the RBCM. A recent inventory of all RBCM collections also uncovered additional type material not reported in the 1981 paper. Here, we provide an updated list of type material including types not listed in the first publication.

Citation, status, and collection information are given for each species. The definition of type status for each entry is that used by the original describer and has not been interpreted by the authors (e.g. "female type" = holotype, allotype?). Collection data is taken from specimen labels except where there is a major discrepancy with the literature. These exceptions are noted when they occur. In some instances label data are minimal, so the reader should refer to the original description. For some species, original describers have designated a male "type" and a female "type" and in such instances we have made no iterpretation as to the status of either specimen (e.g. syntypes, allotypes, or lectotypes). Specimens labeled as "types" for which no published description could be found are not listed.

Type specimens housed at the Royal B.C. Museum have previously been reported by Cowan (1936), Arai (1977) and Peden and Green (1981).

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The authors would like to thank the following people for their assistance in the preparation of this paper. C.S. Guppy assisted in compiling the list of insect types and in finding original descriptions of some insect species. Kelly Sendall, Dave Nagorsen and Lesley Kennes brought invertebrate, vertebrate and plant types to the attention of the authors. Jim Troubridge and Don LaFontaine of Agriculture Canada supplied Lepidoptera citations.
